The Mineral Volunteer Fire Department had a busy weekend with numerous incidents and multiple training events.
- Rescue incident involving a disoriented citizen in the woods. Mineral Volunteers extricated a patient from the remote area via Stokes basket after being located by the Louisa County Sheriff's Office and was turned over to EMS for minor injury evaluation. Units: CHIEF-2, SQUAD-2, SUPPORT-2.
- Motor Vehicle Accident / Rollover with multiple patients trapped. SQUAD-2 assisted as the second due company on a rollover with multiple patients trapped down an embankment. Crews performed a sidewall and rear seat removal to free the patient from the vehicle and established a low-angle rope system with Stokes basket. Units: CHIEF-2 (Command), SQUAD-2, WAGON-2.
- Motor Vehicle Accident / Rollover with one patient trapped. SQUAD-2 assisted as the second due company on a two-car MVC, with patients self-extricated before units arrived on the scene. Units: SQUAD-2
- Fire Investigation. MVFD investigated a possible fire involving a Recreational Vehicle (RV) smoking after mechanical failure while in tow. Units: WAGON-2
- Motor Vehicle Accident / Injury. Mineral Volunteers provided medical services to a patient in the woods who had sustained injuries in a two-car MVC with fluids down in the roadway. Units: SQUAD-2, WAGON-2
- Fire Alarm / Residential. MVFD responded to a residential fire alarm as the fourth company. Units: CHIEF 2-1, SQUAD-2.
Four (4) of Mineral's finest volunteers attended "The Water Thieves" class for premier training on rural water supply operations over two days of dedicated drills, while two (2) of Mineral's finest attended an Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) with WAGON-2 as a training resource. |
