| m., Louisa County experienced a significant storm that caused extensive property damage and brought down thousands of trees. The hardest-hit areas included Pendleton, Mineral, Fredericks Hall, and Bumpass.
Over the next 24 hours, the volunteers of Mineral Volunteer Fire Department responded to an extraordinary variety of emergencies, including multiple structural collapses, a residential collapse with occupants trapped, two working structure fires, dozens of tree and power line incidents, fire alarms, and a drowning incident that resulted in the successful resuscitation of the patient.
The tremendous effort displayed by our volunteers during these incidents was nothing short of remarkable. But the work doesn’t end when the calls are cleared. This evening, our members spent several more hours cleaning and restocking apparatus and equipment to ensure we are ready for the next emergency.
The dedication and professionalism shown by these volunteers are a true reflection of their commitment to serving this community. We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support we receive and for the resilient community that continues to come together in the face of adversity.
